IMPORTANCE OF DESIGNATION IN SERVICE LIFE

Designation plays an important role in our life. Human being has developed this system for development and better management of work at workplace.

Designation
As per Oxford Dictionary the meaning of Designation is a name that is given to somebody for the job they do or the position they hold.

We have given various names to designation in our personal and professional life. It can be hierarchical (a system or organization that has many levels from the lowest to the highest) or parallel in nature. Definitely it shows your development and experience in the course of your normal as well as service life.


Designation brings new responsibility and authority. This instils new confidence and motivates a person to do their respective work with honesty and integrity. 

Further our life journey too based on this designation. We start from new born to infant and infant to toddler then up to young one and thereafter we chase other stages of life. Life gets some meaning due to these designation and gives us maturity and experience with the advancement.

In a span of 25 Years of my career I have listened many times by so many peoples that increment in terms of money is more important than designation. Definitely some are more allure to money but you get good remuneration based on your designation only. Designation shows your capability to handle the particular position smoothly. You get the designation based on your qualities and experience only.

Actually in my point of view designation is equally important as money for growth and success. Human beings are willing to compete with others on the basis of this designation. Designation is our target and we do our best for achieving particular position only. 

This little thing you can understand better with the instinct of a child who wants to grow fast and reached the position where no one could call him child. But there are lacking in this approach in most of the Companies.

A workforce may make a significant contribution to a company's total growth, but many businesses fail to see this potential and choose to disregard it. This is a very crucial component of our lives. It is the region that is most overlooked, particularly in small-scale industries.

Designation is not a role job but it is the ownership of responsibility.

For the purpose of achieving their goals, the company sets numerous targets. In a similar manner, a person might define their own goals in order to accomplish the position or designation they have set as their target. On this basis, both a business and an individual can experience rapid growth. If someone is hired for a position based on criteria established by a particular organisation, it will also create a welcoming environment where no one will be able to complain about prejudice of any kind.

Although the interviewer questioned us extensively, we neglected to inquire about the personnel growth chart. A growth chart refers to what an employee will receive at the end of their 20 golden years of service to the company, assuming they join it at a specific position or designation. Working for these kinds of Companies is useless if there is no roadmap for career advancement in terms of designation. If there is no clear path to their destination, it is undoubtedly a waste of time.

You can better understand this by the Management principles cited by Henry Fayol “the father of modern management theory”. His 14 principles are guiding ways for a management for better planning, organizing, leading and controlling the workforce.

But here I am particularly pointing out two of them first is “Division of Work” and second is “Scalar Chain”.

As per Henry Fayol division of work means occurrence of specialization and specialization improves efficiency. Improved efficiency results increased productivity that ultimate increase Company’s profitability.

In his principles “Scalar Chain” means communication between employees and their superiors. Fayol suggests constructing organization chart that depicts structure of a workplace that aids employees. 

So, Henry Fayol strongly mentions “Division of Work” and “Scalar Chain” principles that favour the designation in workplace. 

Professional designations are titles that you may receive to show your level of excellence in your line of work.

So, designation gives our work some sort of recognition with some responsibility and authority.  It really helps us to achieve our goals. It is a continual growth that means something that happens on regular basis. Designation you get after working gives you money, recognition, experience and success.
